Getting Started
Install in Slack
Add Lockit to your Slack workspace and invite it to the channels where your team will use it.
Install
- Open the Lockit install link while signed in to Slack.
- Pick the workspace you want to add it to (top right of the Slack page).
- Review the permissions and click Allow.
- Lockit appears under Apps in your Slack sidebar.
If your workspace requires admin approval for new apps, Slack sends the request to your admins instead, and Lockit appears once they approve it.
What it can see
Lockit asks for these Slack permissions:
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
app_mentions:read | Read messages that mention @Lockit. It can't read anything else. |
chat:write, chat:write.public | Reply to you, and post lock and release updates in the channel you choose. |
team:read | Know which workspace it's in. |
users:read, users:read.email | Show who holds a lock, and match an email address to a Slack user when someone locks through the API. |
Invite it to a channel
Lockit only answers in channels it's a member of. In each channel where your team will use it, type:
/invite @Lockit
